PGB accepts scholars anew

CITY OF MALOLOS — The opportunity to study and have a bright future opens its doors again as the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) officially starts accepting scholar applicants on June 5, 2017 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the “Tulong Pang-Edukasyon Para sa Kabataang Bulakenyo” scholarship program will cater to incoming freshmen, second year and third year college students in state colleges and universities inside and outside of the province. Incoming fourth year students can also avail but only those who are enrolled with five-year courses.

“Huwag ninyong hayaan na talunin ng kahirapan ang kagustuhan ninyo na makapagtapos at maging sinuman na gusto ninyong maging sa hinaharap. Be the best that you can be. Hayaan ninyong tulungan kayo ng pamahalaan sa pag-abot nito sa pamamagitan ng pagiging iskolar ng bayan,” Alvarado said.

The scholarship program is divided into two categories: the Academic Scholarship wherein scholars will receive P5,000 granting that their grades on academic subjects will not be lower than 90% of the General Weighted Average for high school graduates and 2.00 for students in college and the Educational Assistance (Indigency Program) wherein scholars will receive P3,000.

Assistant Department Head Catherine Innocencio said that other requirements are already imprinted on the form.

Currently, there are 5,780 Bulakenyo college scholars under the said program; 319 of them are enrolled in Bulacan Agricultural State College, 857 from Bulacan Polytechnic College, 3,144 are enrolled in Bulacan State University and 1,460 from other schools.
