PDRRMO-Bulacan Rescue, BFP disseminate fire prevention tips

CITY OF MALOLOS – Safety tips to prevent fire incident is now being disseminated to Bulakenyos as summer time starts to radiate heat.

Anchored on the theme “LIGTAS NA PILIPINAS ang Ating Hangad, Pag-iingat sa Sunog ay sa Sarili Ipatupad”, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Bulacan Rescue and Bulacan Bureau of Fire Protection gave fire prevention tips during the formal launch of Fire Prevention Month this March, which coincided with the Monday Flag Ceremony at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city earlier today.

Bulacan Provincial Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Amando Elevado said that to prevent fire, it is best have a pail of water inside the house, unplug the appliances when not in use or have it rested for 30 minutes, focus when cooking, yearly inspection of all electrical wirings, be knowledgeable on how to properly use an LPG or liquefied petroleum gas, follow all the safety guidelines of the authorities in terms of fire prevention and memorize the emergency hotlines 7910566, 4260209 and 911.

Elevado added that those reminders should be practiced every day to avoid fire incidents that may cause casualties to properties and human lives.

“Tandaan po na ang sunog ay ‘di natural cause, 90% ng sunog ay gawa ng tao, manmade po ito so nasa inyong mga kamay nakaatang ang kaligtasan ng inyong ari-arian at mga mahal ninyo sa buhay,” Elevado said.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado on the other hand advises the Bulakenyos to follow the said reminders and to be vigilant with regard to places that can trigger a grass fire.
Meanwhile, the PDRRMO distributed rescue tools and equipment including a spine board, ring boy, trauma kit sets and splint to the rescue teams of the towns of Angat, Balagtas, Bustos, Plaridel, as well as Rescue 117 and Kabalikat Civicom.

Highlights of the lined-up activities of PDRRMO-Bulacan Rescue this month are the training on Basic Fire Fighting of fire marshals of the Provincial Government on March 6 at Malolos Club Royale Resort in this city; Physical Fitness Activity for Bulacan Rescue and Partners on March 8 at the PDRRMO Operation Center Parking Lot; fire drill and fire safety inspection in the PGB hospitals on March 9; training on hazardous materials on March 13-14 at Malolos Resort Club Royale; stake holder forum on fire safety on March 19 at Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center; training on first aid and fire drill for kiddie fire marshals on March 22 at the Mamerto Bernardino Memorial Central School, Pandi; and Radyo Bulacan Hosting on four Tuesdays (March 6,13,20 and 27) at the Industrial City, Tikay, City of Malolos.
