Outstanding barangays in Bulacan to be recognized
CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Planning and Development Office will recognize outstanding barangay projects, outstanding barangay officials, and outstanding volunteer workers and volunteer group in the Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB) on December 16, 2015, 9:00 am at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
GGB is set to give honor to five outstanding, most creative and most effective barangay projects as well as to each outstanding barangay captain, outstanding barangay councilor, outstanding barangay secretary and outstanding treasurer.
There will also be an award for the outstanding volunteer worker and volunteer group wherein five winners will be chosen among the Barangay Tanods, Mother Leaders, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, Barangay Health Workers, and Barangay Training Employment Coordinator (BTEC). Furthermore, one outstanding group will be recognized from different volunteer groups.
According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, it aims to give importance to the skills and creativity of the barangay government in terms of good governance, developing the culture of innovation and a change in the line of barangay government and community as the key to a long-term and progressive society; to empower and inspire the society for them to continue giving invaluable contribution for the province’s progress; and to evaluate and bestow honor for the outstanding performance and contributions of the barangay servant/officials and volunteer workers/group that makes them good role models to others.
Five outstanding barangay projects will each receive P200,000 and plaque of appreciation, while the outstanding barangay captain will receive P50,000 and a plaque of appreciation.
Meanwhile, the outstanding “lingkod barangay” such as the councilor, secretary, treasurer and the volunteer workers including the Barangay Tanod, Barangay Health Worker, ML, LLN and BTEC will receive P20,000 each.
An outstanding volunteer group will receive P50,000 and a plaque of appreciation.
Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is expected to grace the event as the guest of honor.
GGB is under the Bulacan Awards Program for Barangay Innovation and Excellence, an award giving body that recognizes the outstanding projects and contributions of the barangays.
