CITY OF MALOLOS – Another good news for motorists as the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Balagtas Northbound was formally opened this afternoon by Department of Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark A. Villar, Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Luigi Bautista, President and General Manager of NLEX Corporation.
The project that connects Plaridel Bypass Road to NLEX will decongest the traffic in Sta. Rita Exit and Daang Maharlika particularly at the Plaridel and Guiguinto sections and will decrease the traffic congestion by 30 percent while hastening travel time by 50 percent going to Pampanga.
Fernando expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the project and said that this is a blessing for the people of Bulacan.
“This is a great development as we continue to push for new access roads to facilitate economic progress of the province. Ito ay mahalaga para lalong maging masigla ang lalawigan ng Bulacan sa mga potensyal na mamumuhunan at para mapagaan ang pagbibiyahe ng mga motorista,” the governor said.
According to Villar, the project, which he called a project of everyone, is an example of the Build Build Build outcome of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“This is just a small part of the program to improve the life of our countrymen. This is part of the government’s road network improvement plan aimed at easing traffic congestion and bringing more investments in Central Luzon. At nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng tumulong para matapos ito, sa Bulacan local government officials, salamat ng marami sa suporta” Villar said.
Moreover, Bautista said that this is a testament of an effective cooperation between the government and the private sector to jointly implement projects that will not only help decongest traffic, but also aid in accelerating the growth of trade and commerce in this part of the country.
He added that Bulakenyos and other motorists can now also look forward to the Tambubong interchange wherein a southbound entry, northbound entry and exit toll plazas will be constructed, which is also a joint project between the NLEX and DPWH; an additional interchange bridge in Bocaue and an entirely new interchange at Ciudad de Victoria-Philippine Arena that are being constructed by the DPWH.
“The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10-C3 to R10 Section and NLEX Connector Road are also underway and will eventually facilitate ease of travel in Metro Manila,” Bautista said.
Based on the briefer, the construction of the 600-meter asphalt road started last October 17, 2018 has a total cost of P63,653,476.15. The 300 meters of which was budgeted by the DPWH worth P36,653,476.15 while the other 300 meters worth P27 million was from the NLEX budget.
Also present in the event were DPWH Usec. Rafael Yabut and Regional Director Roseller Tolentino, Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz, Jr., Balagtas Mayor Eladio Gonzales, Jr., Dina Pancho, representative of 2nd District of Bulacan Cong. Gavini Pancho, and other stakeholders.
