CITY OF MALOLOS - The Provincial Government of Bulacan joins the nation in the simultaneous conduct of the Community-Based Immunization Program of the Department of Health for the young population against the threats of vaccine preventable diseases such as Measles, Rubella, Tetanus and Diphtheria (MR-TD) which was launched today until December 2021.

As part of the National Immunization Program's aim to increase vaccination coverage among targeted population groups, the implementation of community-based immunization will provide free, safe and effective vaccines to children from age groups of 6-7 and 12-13 years old to further prevent disease outbreaks related to MR-TD through the help of the local government units in the province that will assist and mobilize the vaccination in each community.

In his message, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando urges parents and guardians to let their children be vaccinated especially that the province is still fighting the COVID-19 virus and reminded them of the possible outbreak that the province might experience if they will refuse to be vaccinated.

Aside from this, Fernando said that routine immunizations are continuously being provided to infants until before they turn 24 months.

The Department of Health also issued Department Memorandum No. 2021-0383 also known as 'Guidelines in the Conduct of 2021 Community-Based Rubella-Tetanus Diphtheria Immunization during COVID-19 Pandemic' to guide local government units and health workers to properly implement the immunization services with the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination. ###
