CITY OF MALOLOS - Three million pieces of face masks will be distributed to Bulakenyos after the Office of the President through the "Mask Para Sa Masa" Program has turned it over to the Provincial Government of Bulacan during the ceremonial turn over held recently at the Bulacan Capitol, Gymnasium here.

The Masks Para sa Masa is a program of the national government which aims to supply free face masks in order to provide protection to six million less fortunate families or more than 35 million individuals in the country against COVID-19 and to provide livelihood to micro, small and medium enterprises, cooperatives among others.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rowena J. Tiongson, Bulacan received a total of 3,265,167 pieces of non-medical cloth mask that will be distributed to 653,033 families including the beneficiaries of ESP SAP, 4Ps, UCT SOcPen and Listahanan through the designated city/municipal social welfare development officers of each local government unit.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando expressed his gratitude to the national government and said that said face masks will surely help in combating the prevalent virus.

"Lubos po ang aking pasasalamat sa pagkakaloob ng mga libreng face mask na ito para sa mga Bulakenyo. Magiging kabawasan din ito sa mga pang araw-araw na gastusin ng ating mga kalalawiga, lalo na dahil sa proteksyong maidudulot nito sa mga tao dahil ang simpleng pagsusuot ng face mask ay makapagliligtas sa ating sarili at sa ating kapwa," the governor said.

The PGB also received donations from Pitmaster Foundation, Inc. last Monday including 10,000 pieces of noodles, 10,000 pieces of sardines, 1,000 sacks of 25 kilos of rice and an ambulance while the Guerrero Brothers donated 400 sacks of 25 kilos of rice and 10,000 pieces each of noodles and sardines that will also be distributed to the Bulakenyos.

As of the COVID-19 surveillance update today, out of total 26,011 Covid-19 cases in the province, 22,270 (86%) have recovered, 3,095 (12%) are active cases and 646 (2%) have died. ###
