CITY OF MALOLOS- Another good news for 2021 as the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) continues with its distribution of farm machineries and equipment to 91 farmers' cooperatives and associations all over Bulacan under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program (RCEP). It covers the second batch of recipients for 2019 and the first and second batches of recipients for 2020.

The distribution of the P202,708,000 worth of farm machineries will take place at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium today. It will include 70 four-wheel drive tractors, 84 hand tractors, two precision seeders, 12 transplanters, 15 rice reapers, 28 combine harvesters, four floating tillers, three transplanter riding types and post harvest facilities such as one multi-pass rice mill and one recirculating dryer.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando is very thankful for this assistance from the Department of Agriculture and PhilMech.

"Malaking tulong ito sa atin lalo na pagkatapos ng mga mapaminsalang bagyo, at patuloy na dumadaan sa pagsubok ng pandemya. Tayo naman ay kaisa ng Pamahaalaang Nasyunal sa layunin na matulungan ang ating mga magsasaka na makamit ang masaganang ani at mataas na kita tungo sa kasapatan ng pagkain para sa mga Pilipino," Fernando said.

Ma Gloria Carrillo, Provincial Agriculturist of Bulacan, said that all qualified beneficiaries underwent application, submitted requirements and were evaluated accordingly based on PhilMech's policies.

RCEP is funded under the Republic Act (RA) 11203 or the "Rice Tariffication Law" (RTL). The P10 billion fund is divided as follows: Seeds (P3 billion), Farm Machineries (P5 billion), Extension services (P1 billion) and credit (P1 billion) annually for six (6) years. ###
