Bulacan showcases modern, traditional dances and music online

CITY OF MALOLOS – The pandemic did not stop the Province of Bulacan in staging modern and traditional dances and music through online platform as part of the activities during the weeklong celebration of Singkabal Festival.

Dubbed as Bulacan Online Dance Festival, the activity featured featured modern and folkdances of known dance troupes in the province namely the BASC Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group, Bulacan Ballet Academy, BulSU Dancesports Team, BulSU Entablado, BulSU Hyperdynamics, BulSU Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe, FCPC Baliktanaw, Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Group, Indak Guiguintenyo, Kenyo Street Farm, LCUP Primemovers, LCUP Sandayog Dance Troupe, Sining Bulakenyo, Sining Tanglawan and Halili Cruz School of Ballet which premiered last September 10, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Bulacan Brass Band Online Festival that held its online streaming yesterday featured Bulakenyo musicians playing various tunes and famous songs including the performances from Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band, San Migue National High School Brass Band, Angat Community Band, San Roque Band, Saint Joseph Band, Sacred Heart Academy Brass Band, Banda 88, Apo Ana Brass Band, Banda 31 Kapisanan Ligaya, Banda 31 Original of Santa Maria, Kapisanan Banda, Dakila Brass Band and BulSU Symphonic Band.

Dr. Eliseo S. Dela Cruz, head of Provincial, History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office, said that their office is continuously implementing programs to preserve and instill the rich arts and culture of the province to the next generations.

“May Singkaban man o wala, tuluy-tuloy pa rin ang mga programang katulad nito para sa ating dakilang lalawigan na tunay namang maipagmamalaki natin,” Dela Cruz said.

He added that the online concerts are posted online via the Facebook pages of PHACTO Bulacan and Bulacan Arts and Culture.

Meanwhile, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said that the pandemic cannot conquer the Bulakenyos’ love for their culture as they eagerly find ways to celebrate Singkaban Festival.

“Ngayon, napatunayan natin na hindi kayang talunin ng pandemya ang pagmamahal sa kultura at talento ng liping Bulakenyo. Sa bawat sining, musika, pag-indak at panitikan na ating itinatampok sa Singkaban Festival, patuloy nating binibigyang parangal ang mahabang kasaysayan ng kadakilaan at kalinangan ng ating ipinagmamalaking lahi,” the governor said.

Aside from concerts and performances, the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival also includes other programs that were held online including the ‘Discover Flavors of Bulacan’ wherein it featured entries of online video presentations of food discoveries and various famous delicacies made locally in each towns and cities the province; "Pasyal Saya sa Bulacan: Virtual Tour of Bulacan" wherein historical and famous tourist spots and destinations were presented through an audio visual presentation.

In addition, the Department of Tourism Region III and PHACTO also launched a free webinar via Zoom application for Bulacan Tourism Stakeholders entitled Filipino Tourism Frontliner Version 2.0: A Journey Towards Recovery and Resiliency scheduled on September 15-17, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:30 am wherein Bulakenyos who registered may access online courses and will be issued certificates of attendance after accomplishing the online course evaluation.###
