CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bulacan discussed the operational guidelines on the application of the zoning containment strategy or localized lockdowns in the province to control the spreading of the virus during the online zoom meeting with the barangay captains in Bulacan held at the Fransisco Balagtas Hall, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here last Thursday.

According to DILG Provincial Director Darwin David, the zoning containment strategy will focus on the areas identified as critical zone (CrZ) or the areas where the initial number of cases or several clustering are identified; containment zone (CZ) or the area without new cases but are adjacent to a geographical unit categorized as CrZ; buffer zone (BZ) or the areas without new cases but are adjacent to areas categorized as CZ; areas outside buffer zone (OBZ) or the remaining areas without new cases not categorized as CZ or BZ.

Meanwhile, Fernando emphasized the importance of the roles of the barangay officials to identify the areas that needed attention.

Accordingly, the concerned Local Task Force shall be authorized to declare geographical units within its area of jurisdiction into zones with the concurrence of the Regional IATF.

Also, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)-Bulacan through Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rowena J. Tiongson presented the survey form to be filled out by residents working outside the province to further track down the percentage of Bulakenyos who have the possibility to infect others due to local transmission that will be distributed to each barangay by the end of the month. ###
