PGB, DA grant farming equipment to Bulakenyo farmers

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando through the provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III) granted farming equipment to 21 farming associations in Bulacan during the Provision of Intervention for High Value Crops Production held in front of the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here this morning.

According to Provincial Agriculturist Floria SF. Carillo, the program is focused on the organizations of vegetable farmers and beneficiaries were chosen after being evaluated by the DA and PAO based on a criteria.

A total of 11 farming associations received 2 units of knapsack sparyers each including Pulilan Rice and Vegetable Producers Cooperative from Brgy. Poblacion, Pulilan; Lahi ng Magbubukid ng Hagonoy from Brgy. Iba, Hagonoy; St. Joseph Palay and Vegetable Farmers Association from Brgy. San Jose, Calumpit; Sulivan Tilapayong Association from Brgy. Sulivan, Baliwag; Vegetable Rice Irrigators’ Association from Brgy. Tanawan, Bustos; Samahang Maggugulay ng Guiguinto from Brgy. Tuktukan, Guiguinto; Sto. Nino Farmers Association from Brgy. Sto. Nino, Plaridel; Samahan ng Bitungol Palayamanan from Brgy. Bitungol, Norzagaray; Samahan ng mga Magsasaka ng Buliran from Brgy. Buliran, San Miguel; Meycauayan Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Brgy. Malhacan, City of Meycauayan and Mag-asawang Sapa , Palay, Corn and Vegetable Farmers Association from Brgy. M.Sapa, Santa Maria, Bulacan.
On the other hand, the Frances Vegetable Grower Association from Brgy. Frances, Calumpit; Kaybanban Farmer’s Association Inc. From Brgy. Kaybanaban, City of San Jose Del Monte; Vegetable Growers Association of Bocaue from Brgy. Igulot, Bocaue; and Abulalas M.P.C From Brgy. Abulalas, Hagonoy each received a unit of shallow tube well.

Moreover, the Alyansa ng mga Magsasaka at Maggugulay ng Tukod from Brgy. Tukod, San Rafael received a unit of multicultivator ; Gulod Farmers Association from Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, SanTA Maria with a unit of power sprayer; Kutad Lamesa Organic Vegetable Farmers Association from Brgy. Sampaloc, Dona Remedios Trinidad received a unit of green house; Grains and Vegetable Farmers Association/Sapang Dayap from Brgy. Sapang Dayap, San Idelfonso with a unit of screen house; Sta. Lucia Farmers Association from Brgy. Santa Lucia, Angatwith a unit of solar powered irrigation system and San Roque Farmers Association from Brgy. San Roque, Angat received a unit of wind pump.

Meanwhile, Fernando emphasized the importance of food especially those that are produced by the farmers.

“Sa panahon ng pandemayang ito, lalo po nating nakita ang kahalagahan ng mga pagkain gaya ng bigas at mga gulay na ipinamahagi rin natin noong nag lockdown sa ating lalawigan. Kaya naman po nararapat lamang na paunlarin natin ang ating pagsasaka,” the governor said.

The High Value Crops Development Program is one of the DA’s banner programs focused on the development of high value crops such as vegetables and fruits by providing programs that help farmers such as providing quality tools for framing and seedlings to increase the productivity of the farmers.###
