CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando received two awards in one night as he was named the Most Influential Man of the Year and Best in Public Service of the Year during the 3rd Asia Pacific Luminare Awards held at the Grand Ballroom of Vivere Hotel in Filinvest Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Thursday night.

“Nakakataba po ng puso sa likod ng paghihirap, pagod sa paglilingkod sa kapwa tapos ito makukuha mo. Maraming salamat po sapagkat napansin n’yo ‘yung aming pagsisikap. Inaalay ko po ang mga awards na ito sa aking nanay, pamilya, sa mga taga -Bulacan, sa bumubuo ng PGB. Lahat po ginagawa namin para sa mamamayan at ‘di lang para sa sariling kapakanan. God thank you,” Fernando said.

Jao Mapa, an actor and one of the organizers of the awards program, described Luminare as someone who has achieved success and excelled in his respected field.

“Most of the time, it is only those who make the most contribution, who shine brightest and who get recognized. In Luminare awards, we believe that there are people who have contributed to the enrichment of the lives of others and now it is their time to shine,” Mapa said.

Other 65 awardees include Robi Domingo, Jason Abalos, Kyline Alcantara, Miguel Tanfelix, Miriam Quiambao-Roberto, Alfonso, Cavite Mayor Randy Salamat, and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno among others.

Prince Danel Calo, spokesperson of the award giving body, said that they aim to encourage everyone to shine at their brightest and stressed that it is essential for people to learn from their experiences.

Recipients of the Asia Pacific LUMINARE Awards were selected from candidates nominated by the awards council (peers from the same field or beneficiaries of their work). Each month a particular field is highlighted and nominees are nominated within two (2) months prior to the awarding to give time for the award council to gather and confirm the information provided.

The first two APLA honored people in the field of academics and for its third year, the organizers included persons in other fields like public service, governance, business, private sector, education, fashion, technology, environment, faith-based groups, charity, Entertainment, Arts and many other categories whose work is to make the world, at least in the Asia Pacific Region, a better place to live in.

With the theme ‘Building a happier and safer home’, the awarding ceremony held a charity dinner where the proceeds will be used to build more houses for homeless children specifically the Village of Hope.###
