Thursday, 27 November 2014
CITY OF MALOLOS - The Capitol park will be filled with lights and colors as the top officials of the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and special guest Korina Sanchez light the 50-foot giant Christmas tree on November 28, 2014 at 5:00 in the afternoon, which signifies the start of Paskong Bulakenyo in the province.

According to Alvarado, the annual traditional Christmas tree lighting that aims to put Christmas closer to the hearts of Bulakenyos will be featured in Sanchez’s ABS-CBN’s top-rating show, Rated K.

He also said that the activity will encourage Bulakenyos to celebrate Christmas season with love, joy, peacefulness and forgiveness, which is the true essence of the celebration.

The giant Christmas tree is made up of intricate Singkaban bamboo arcs adorned with colorful decors like Christmas balls, lanterns, lights and flowers.

Prior to this, the first part of the program will showcase the talents of Bulakenyos in the Konsierto ng mga Artistang Bulakenyo featuring BulSU Saringhimig, BulSU Lahing Kayumanggi, Sining Bulakenyo, Talentadong Pinoy Grand-finalist Melbelyn Caluag and many more.

Also, before the countdown to the lighting ceremony, the audience will be serenaded with Christmas carols by different chorale groups.

“Ang pagdiriwang ng Pasko ay mahalaga sa bawat Pilipino dahil ito ang panahon ng pagbibigayan at pagmamahalan. Magandang alalahanin natin ang pinakamagandang mensahe ng Kapaskuhan na magpasalamat sa Poong Maykapal,” said the governor.

Hundreds of Bulakenyos are expected to take part in the celebration including the local chief executives from the towns and cities of the province, non-government organizations and employees of the Capitol. ###
