Outstanding cooperatives to be recognized in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – In line with the Cooperative Month celebration, a Gawad Parangal sa mga Natatanging Kooperatiba ng Taon will be held on October 29, 2014 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center coinciding the Coop Fellowship to recognize this year’s outstanding cooperatives that have contributed to the progress of the province.

According to the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Office (PCEDO), the awards secretariat, from the 31 cooperatives that joined the search, 12 of them were shortlisted as finalists in various categories including 3-5 years in service, 6-10 years in service, 11 years or more in service, Cooperative Award for Continuing Excellence (Coop-Ace), Trailblazing Award and Special Citations.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that it is necessary to acknowledge the contribution of organizations that are government’s partners in economic development.

“Malaki ang naitutulong ng mga kooperatiba sa mga Bulakenyo at ito ang gusto nating iparamdam sa kanila, na mahalaga sila sa ekonomiya, na mahalaga sila hindi lang sa mga miyembro nila kundi sa kabuuang pag-unlad ng Bulacan,” Alvarado said.

Awardees that undergone a series of screening and evaluation will take home cash prizes and trophies.

Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will also grace the event as the guest of honor and speaker.

There are 684 total number of registered cooperatives in Bulacan. ###
