Bulacan launches KKK sa Barangay

CITY OF MALOLOS – To further reinforce the partnership and cooperation of the local government in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the province, the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado launched the Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran sa Barangay, also known as KKK sa Barangay, held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, today in this city.

Alvarado said the program is part of his Seven Point Agenda that aims to protect the environment and maintain and ensure the cleanliness and orderliness in the community.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Tungkulin natin na pangalagaan at panatilihing malinis ang ating kapaligiran dahil ito ay hiram lang natin sa Maykapal. Magsama-sama at magtulungan tayo na panatilihin na malinis, maganda at may kaayusan ang ating abang lalawigan na makatutulong sa ating pag-unlad,” said Alvarado.

The governor also stated that the program aims to recognize all the Natatanging Barangay that continues to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in their community which is one of the elements of a sustainable community.

According to Provincial Administrator Eugenio Payongayong, head of the provincial KKK Task Force, three Natatanging Barangay sa Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran will be selected in every town and city in the province.

The winners will be chosen based on the following criteria: 50% for cleanliness that includes having clean roads, well-maintained drainage or sewerage system; proper waste management system and with a Materials Recovery Facility; 50% for orderliness that includes a community without eyesore streamers, ads/election posters, dilapidated structures and construction debris; with a space for the plantations of trees and mangroves; and with an organized barangay hall and a systematic method of recording and safekeeping of data.

The cleanest barangay that will be chosen will strictly undergo an evaluation in the municipal level and validation in the provincial level.

Winners of Natatanging Barangay will be recognized on December 15, 2014 wherein the first placer will receive cash incentive worth P20,000 and material aid worth P100,000; the second placer will receive P15,000 and material aid worth P 75,000; and the third placer will receive P10,000 and material aid worth P50,000. All the winners will receive a plaque of recognition.

The said program was made possible through the cooperation of the Provincial Government and the local government of the 21 towns and three cities in the province. ###
