Disposorio Festival dancers stand out in Indakan sa Kalye 2014

CITY OF MALOLOS – The top street dancers of San Pedro National High School from Hagonoy toppled the other eight contenders with their best cultural dance moves as they bagged the first place in the “Indakan sa Kalye,” the Best of the Best Street Dancers Competition held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium yesterday in this city.

The champion, Disposorio Festival, received trophy and cash prize amounting to P100,000. They were also awarded as the Best in Street Dance and Best in Costume with P5,000 cash incentive plus trophies.

According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the competition is the way of the provincial government in promoting the local festivities in Bulacan and to invite and attract not only the Bulakenyos, but all the Filipinos and foreign tourists to witness the annual celebration of Singkaban Festival.

Nine groups competed and represented their cities’ and towns’ such as Halamanan Festival in Guiguinto, Fertility Festival in Obando, Barong at Saya Festival in Pandi and Minasa Festival in Bustos.
Halamanan Dancers ng Barangay Tabe bagged the second place after showcasing dance routines that depict Guiguinto’s Halamanan Festival and received P75,000 while Bulihan National High School that exemplify the Fiesta Republika was awarded the third place and took home P50,000.

Meanwhile, Virginia Ramirez Cruz High School of Pandi’s Barong at Saya Festival, Guiguinto National Vocational High School of Guiguinto’s Halamanan Festival and Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School of Malolos Sto. Nino Festival were awarded the honorable mention and each received P10, 000 and a trophy.

Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Officer Elizabeth Alonzo said the street dance started at the Basilica Minore de Immaculada Concepcion and ended in front of the Bulacan Provincial Capitol while the showdown of the groups took place at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.###
