Bulacan wins Green Banner Award

CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulacan received an additional recognition after being awarded the Green Banner Award for its outstanding efforts in the implementation of nutrition program.

The said award was conferred by the Regional Nutrition Council in the 2014 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, Pampanga recently.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that he will continue to implement proper nutrition program to inspire other local government units to do the same.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan was awarded the Outstanding Municipality in the Provincial Green Banner Award while Paombong, Bulacan bagged the national recognition for Contender for 1st Year Municipal CROWN Maintenance Award.

Other awardees include first placer Vilma Oronce of Brgy. San Miguel, Calumpit for Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar.

Also, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Rowena Tiongson was recognized for her ten years of outstanding service and contribution in the field of community nutrition.

Prior to this, the province was awarded the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN) Award in 2010, CROWN 1st Year Maintenance Award in 2011, and CROWN 2nd Year Maintenance Award in 2012 that proved the province’s good performance in managing its local nutrition plans for years. ###
