Free harelip, cleft palate surgeries highlight PWDs week celebration

CITY OF MALOLOS – In line with the celebration of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week this month of July, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) is set to conduct free operation for patients with harelip and cleft palate at Baliwag District Hospital.

With the theme “Talino at Paninindigan ng may Kapansanan: Pasaporte sa Kaunlaran”, the said one week activity aims to increase public awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, pre-screening of patients at BDH will be held on July 11; work-up and laboratory tests on July 14-19; clearance and admission of batch one on July 20; batch one surgery and admission of batch two on July 21; and batch two operation and Governor’s visit on July 22.

Other activities include hanging of streamers in the 21 towns and three cities in the province for information dissemination.

Also, the PWDs will showcase their skills and talents in the cultural and variety show dubbed as “Basta’t Bulakenyo, Kahit may K, OK” to be held on July 22 at SM Baliwag.

Meanwhile, the province of Bulacan will host the Abilympics and Quiz Bee on July 23 as part of the Regional Council for Disability Affairs’ activity for National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

“Patuloy na maaasahan ng PWDs ang suporta ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan, Provincial Council on Disability Affairs, at KASAMAKA sa Bulacan sa abot ng aming makakaya,” the governor said. ###
