CITY OF MALOLOS – There is no holiday for the job seekers.

Hundreds of job hunters took advantage of the Independence Day Job Fair for local and overseas employment initiated by the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium yesterday in this city.

With the theme “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago,” Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado together with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Director Teodoro Gatchalian opened the door of opportunities to Bulakenyos with almost 5,000 job vacancies offered in the job fair.

The governor said that the event is part of the celebration of the 116th Anniversary of Philippine Independence that aims to lessen the number of unemployed Bulakenyos and to help potential graduates in seeking jobs that are appropriate to their courses.
According to Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PYSEACTO) head and PESO Manager Elizabeth Alonzo, 179 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot from the 837 registered applicants who attended the job fair.

“Karamihan sa mga pumunta, mga fresh graduates at mga skilled workers from TESDA na umaasa sa oportunidad na makakapag-apply sa trabahong aakma sa kanilang mga kakayahan,” said Alonzo.

The DOLE also provided starter kits to the TESDA skilled tech-voc graduates.

Further, eight overseas companies which are accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration participated in the event together with 51 local companies including SM Shopping Center-Baliwag, Crown Asia Compounders, Pandayan Bookshop, Knitech Manufacturing Inc., Dunkin’ Donuts, Waltermart and many more. ###
