The search is on for Bulacan's next Dangal ng Lipi 2014 awardees

CITY OF MALOLOS – In a bid to recognize the province’s outstanding sons and daughters, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Planning and Development Office announced recently that the nominations for the Gawad Dangal ng Lipi Awards is open.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the award does not only give honor to deserving Bulakenyos but also to inspire more citizens to become prides of Bulacan in their own ways.

“Hanggang may mga Bulakenyong nagsisikap, hindi tayo titigil na parangalan sila. Sila na kadalasan hindi nabibigyang pansin ng marami. Ito ay pagpapatunay lamang na ang lalawigan ay hitik sa mga mamamayang mahuhusay, matatalino, masisipag at mapupunyagi,” Alvarado added.

The governor also encourages all Bulakenyos to support the program through submission of nominees from all over the province.

According to the PPDO, the awards secretariat, the PGB’s DNL that coincides the Singkaban Fiesta every September has nine categories including public service, professional, community service, entrepreneur, education, science and technology, arts and culture, trade and industry, health, agriculture, sports, and the Bulakenyo Expatriate.

Also, Tanging Bulakenyo Award, the highest award given to a Bulakenyo by the PGB, will be given to a Bulakenyo who excels in any of the awards categories stated above and with an outstanding performance and contribution to the society.

Arlene Pascual, PPDO head, said that a nominee must be born or has been residing in Bulacan for five years, or if a nominee does not have a Bulakenyo blood must have been a resident of the province for ten years, aside from the duly accomplished entry form, other proofs of excellence and further requirements.

Pascual added that nominations must be submitted on or before June 30, 2014.
