CITY OF MALOLOS – Almost 7,000 job vacancies opened its doors for Bulakenyos during the recently concluded Trabaho para sa Bulakenyo Job Fair for local and overseas employment initiated by the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium on April 8, 2014.

The event was attended by 1,390 jobseekers from different parts of the province vying for 2,694 local and 3,750 overseas job opportunities.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the event’s main purpose is to match the skills of the Bulakenyos to the need of the society.

“Naniniwala ako na ang mga Bulakenyo ay may mga kakayahang aakma sa mga oportunidad na ating hinahandog sa job fair na ito na makakapag-paunlad ng pamumuhay ng ating kapwa kababayanan at maging ng mga fresh graduates na naghahanap ng trabaho,” the governor said.

According to the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PYSEACTO) head and PESO Manager Elizabeth Alonzo, said job fair is the only way for the local government to lessen the number of unemployed and to help the fresh graduates in seeking jobs that are in line to their courses.

“Ang layunin kasi talaga natin ay to address the issues of unemployment and tulungan ang mga fresh graduates na makapaghanap ng trabaho and as of now, we have 1,181 qualified applicants for interview,” said Alonzo.

On the other hand, 11 overseas companies which are accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration participated in the event together with 58 local companies including Robinsons Retail, Honda Cars Bulacan, Woodhaven Corp., Intertool Precision Group, Inc., SM Supermalls- SM City Marilao, Metro Dryclean Ventures, Inc., C.M. Pancho Construction, Inc., Crown Asia Compounders Corp., and many more.

“Kagandahan nito, isang punta ka lang, marami ng opportunities na naghihintay sa’yo. Makakapag-apply ka kahit ‘di ka gumastos ng malaki at nasa isang lugar ka lang,” said Jessica Punzalan, a fresh graduate from Bulacan State University. ###
