Bulacan bags Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers' Awards

SECOND TIME AWARDEE. Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado receives the Rice Achievers’ Award for the second time for being hailed as one of the 12 most outstanding provinces in the country during the 2013 Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers Awarding Ceremony conferred by the Department of Agriculture at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City last March 14. CITY OF MALOLOS- The Province of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado was awarded as one of the country’s top 12 provinces in the Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers’ Awarding Ceremony held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City yesterday, March 14, 2014.

Received the said award for two consecutive years, the governor said that award is an addition to the achievements of the province of Bulacan.

“Ako ay lubos na nagagalak at muling nabigyan ng pansin ang ating mga programang isinasagawa para sa kaunlaran ng ating lalawigan lalo na sa agrikultura,” Alvarado said.

In addition, the municipality of San Rafael was also hailed as one of the Outstanding Municipalities while Provincial Agriculture Officer Ma. Gloria Carrillo and Provincial Agriculture Office Staff Cynthia Nunez also bagged the Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) category award.

Moreover, 19 Bulakenyo agriculturists from San Ildefonso, Bustos and San Rafael also got the Agricultural Extension Workers category.

Aside from trophies, Bulacan province received P4-million worth of agricultural project grants; San Rafael got P1-million worth of project grants; and AEWs also received cash incentive worth P20,000 each.

The other winning rice achievers for 2013 are the provinces of Nueva Ecija, North Cotabato, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Bukidnon, Kalinga, Mindoro Occidental, Laguna, and Lanao Del Norte.

The Agri-Pinoy Rice Achiever’s Award is an initiative of the Department of Agriculture to identify the top 10 rice producing communities in the country. The competition is divided into three categories - Local Government Units (LGUs), Agricultural Extension Workers and Irrigators Associations for the regional level and national level.###
