“Let’s dedicate this day to every Bulakenyo who remains steadfast despite the trials” – Fernando
CITY OF MALOLOS – In his video message, Governor Daniel R. Fernando paid tribute and dedicated this day to the Bulakenyos during the celebration of the 443rd Founding Anniversary of the Province of Bulacan held in front of the Provincial Government of Bulacan in this city.
“Ito ay araw ng bawat isang Bulakenyo. Sa gitna ng paghihirap at pighati sa panahon ng pandemya, tayong mga Bulakenyo ay mananatiling matatag at puno ng pag-asa. Ang pandemyang ito ay nagluwal ng mga makabagong bayaning handang iligtas ang buhay ng kanyang mga kalalawigan at nanatiling tapat sa sinumpaang tungkulin sa kabila ng panganib sa kanilang kaligtasan,” Fernando said.
He also encouraged Bulakenyos to keep in mind the sacrifices of their ancestors and to value the province’s rich heritage which symbolizes the resilience of the Bulakenyos in today’s era.
“Alalahanin natin ang mga sakripisyo ng ating mga bayaning nagbuwis ng kanilang buhay taglay ang paniniwala na ang ating lalawigan ay itinakda hindi sa kabiguan at pagkalupig, kundi sa karangalan at kadakilaan. Pagyamanin natin ang pamana ng Bulacan na naging tahanan ng ating lahi sa loob ng apat na daan at apatnapu’t tatlong taon na ang nakalilipas,” Fernando said.
In a brief program, Fernando was joined by Vice Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan including Board Members Romina D. Fermin, Bernando Ople, Jr. and William Villarica to perform the wreath laying ceremony in front of the statue of Gat Marcelo H. Del Pilar.
The Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office also officially launched the third heritage book “SINEliksik Bulacan: Bayani ng Kanyang Panahon, Inspirasyon Natin Ngayon!” that features Bulakenyo heroes during the Filipino-Spanish and Filipino-American war; and the frontliners as today’s heroes as the province continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the New Provincial Administrative Code, August 15, 1578 is recognized as the founding day of the Province of Bulacan and the celebration of Bulacan Foundation Day every 15th of August. ###
