CITY OF MALOLOS – Hundreds of Bulakenyos are expected to troop in front of the Capitol Building in this city on December 8, 2017 at 7 pm to witness the lighting of the 56 feet giant Christmas tree, signifying the start of Paskong Bulakenyo.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando will lead the lighting of the said Christmas tree that is made of steel and adorned with singkaban floral decorations and thousands of colored warm white Christmas lights.
Prior the lighting, Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band will perform at 5 pm, which will be conducted by Maestro Felicito Sacdalan and Band Master Virgilio Andan.
It will be followed by a concert of Bulakenyo artists featuring Lara Lavinia Bayani, Melbelline Anne Caluag, BulSU Lahing Kayumangi, BulSu Saring Himig, Barasoain Camerata Philippines (BCP), Sining Bulakenyo and Syncopellas at 6 pm.
Also, a fireworks display and gift giving will be held.
According to Alvarado, the annual Christmas tree lighting serves not only as an ornamentation but as a symbol of hope and and faith for the Bulakenyos that despite the adversities that they’ve been through the whole year, it will be compensated with blessings and love from God.
“Lahat tayo ay inaabangan ang pagsapit ng Kapaskuhan at ngayon ay opisyal na itong magsisimula sa ating lalawigan. Patuloy po tayong manalig sa Panginoon at maging mapagbigay sa ating kapwa. Ang pagmamahal at pagmamalasakit sa kapwa at sa Panginoon ang pinakamahal pa rin na regalo na maaari nating ibigay at matanggap,” the governor said.
