CITY OF MALOLOS – The Government Quality Management Committee (GQMC) awarded the Provincial Government of Bulacan a plaque of recognition for successfully establishing a Quality Management System Certification to ISO 9001:2008 standards during its 4th Recognition Ceremony held at the Land Bank of the Philippines Auditorium, Malate, Manila, Thursday morning.
Awarded for one core process, the provision of public service to the constituents of Bulacan, the PGB is among the 82 government agencies with first time certification of ISO 9001 from January 2012 to October 2016. As of October 30, 2016, there were already 585 government agencies with ISO 9001 certifications.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the recognition is both an honor and a challenge for the employees to strive more and to serve better for the public’s best interest.
Pursuant to Executive Order No. 605, (Institutionalizing The Structure, Mechanisms and Standards to Implement the Government Quality Management Program, Amending for the Purpose Administrative Order No. 161, s. 2006) s.2007, the program aims to promote public sector performance through the adoption of ISO 9001 and recognize citizen driven government organizations and agencies that have attained ISO 9001 certification.
The GQMC is composed of the heads of the Department of Budget and Management, Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno, Internal Audit Service-Office of the President of the Philippines, Deputy Executive Secretary Alberto Bernardo and Development Academy of the Philippines President Antonio Kalaw, Jr.
The PGB has been issued the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification last May 6, 2016 and was served last July 1, 2016 coinciding the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected officials in Bulacan.
