Gintong Kabataan Awards to honor 11 Bulakenyo youths
CITY OF MALOLOS – Eleven outstanding Bulakenyo youths who have excelled in different fields will be recognized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Gintong Kabataan Awards (GKA) on August 26, 2016, at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said, GKA is set to honor the youth who have stood out in various categories such as public service, arts and culture, sports (individual and group); academe and science (high school and college levels), labor (professional and skilled workers), legislation (SK Officials, Federation SK President and SK Council), entrepreneur and Gintong Kabataang Bayani.
“Lagi po nating sinasabi na ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan. Ang mga pararangalan ngayong taon sa Gintong Kabataan ang magpapatunay na ang mga kabataan ng bagong henerasyon ay may sapat na galing at talino upang makapag-ambag sa ikauunlad ng ating lalawigan”, Alvarado said.
Aside from the above mentioned categories, 14 special citations will be given to the youth who have also brought pride and honor to the province.
According to the Provincial Youth, Sports, Employment and Development Office, GKA secretariat, the nominees underwent a thorough screening process from the members of the screening committee headed by Rev. Fr. Dennis Espejo.
All awardees will receive trophy, medal and cash incentives amounting to P10,000 for individual and P15,000 for group while a plaque of recognition will be given to those who will receive special citations.
Meanwhile, Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian is expected to grace the event as the guest of honor.
Among the past GKA awardees include Nicomaine Dei Mendoza better known as Yaya Dub, Jolina Magdangal, Roxy Barcelo, Arnold Clavio and Steve Dailisan of GMA 7, Cheryl Cosim of TV5, beauty queen Maricar Balagtas, Coun. Gino Carlos Torres of the town of Calumpit, Chess Grand Master Mark Paragua, basketball player Vergel Meneses and many more.
From 1991, GKA has already recognized 250 individuals/groups that stood out in their chosen fields.
