CITY OF MALOLOS – “Gat Blas F. Ople is Bulacan’s gift to the world.
This was the message of Gov. Daniel R. Fernando as he expressed his admiration to Gat Blas F. Ople during the commemoration of Ople’s 93rd Birth Anniversary with the theme “Pagtugon sa Tawag ng Tungkulin Tungo sa Dakilang Mithiin” held in front of Gat Blas F. Ople Building (Livelihood Training Center) here this morning.
Thousands of Bulakenyos attended the memorial and rekindled the heroic deeds of the “Father of Overseas Employment” known to many as Ka Blas.
Among the attendees were Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina of Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, City of Malolos Mayor Gilbert Gatchalian and Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz, Jr., Board Members Erlene Luz Dela Cruz, Allan Andan, and Alex Castro, volunteer workers, senior citizens, boy scouts, employees of the Provincial Government of Bulacan and the media.
His son, former Board Member Felix V. Ople, spoke on behalf of their family and paid tribute to his father’s dedication in serving the public.
Meanwhile, Usec. Carolina, the guest of honor, encouraged young Bulakenyos to serve with integrity and to help promote welfare in the country.
Ka Blas also fought during the World War II as a teenager under the Del Pilar Regiment and the Buenavista Regiment of the Bulacan Military Area founded by the late former Bulacan Gov. Alejo Santos.###
