For protection and rehabilitation of the environment
DENR Usec Cuna encourages Bulakenyos to keep the revolution going

CITY OF MALOLOS – Department of Environment and Natural Resources Usec. Juan Miguel T. Cuna enticed thousands of Bulakenyos in attendance during the 441st Founding Anniversary of Bulacan held in front of the Provincial Capitol Building here, to keep the revolution going for the protection and rehabilitation of the environment.
“As you celebrate your founding anniversary, remember however, the revolution is not over. Our country faces a new foe that we have to collectively fight, with determination. Our enemies here are pollution and indiscretion of some individuals and entities who despoil the environment,” the undersecretary said.
Cuna, who represented Sec. Roy Cimatu as the guest of honor, also called for eternal vigilance in order to protect the environment especially the bodies of water, which are sources of livelihood considering that Bulacan is geographically located near oceans and rivers.
He added that Bulacan is fortunate to be the birthplace of some of the country’s heroes who fought for freedom that the Filipinos now enjoy, and that it should be preserved and remembered.
Meanwhile, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando said that this day calls for everyone to relive the legacy of the province.
Sa mga kabataan, this legacy belongs to you,” Fernando said.
Dr. Jaime Veneracion also discussed the three important dates in the celebration of the month of Bulacan, August 15, 1578, August 30, 1850 and September 15, 1898.
Also present to celebrate the occasion were Vice Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Congressman Jonathan Sy-Alvarado, board members of the districts of Bulacan, city and municipal mayors, employees of the Provincial Government of Bulacan, employees from the DENR Region III, veterans, volunteer workers, and media to name a few.
