Folk, hip-hop dance troupes to showcase their dance moves on Singkaban Festival 2019
CITY OF MALOLOS – A mix of old and new will be showcased by Bulakenyo youths as they display their talents in folk and hip-hop dances through “Galing Bulakenyo: Singkaban Folk and Hip-Hop Dance Competitions 2019” on September 10, 2019, 1 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.
The competitions are open to all Bulakenyo folk and hip-hop dance troupes in high school and college levels, out of school youth and community groups ages 14 to 18 years old.
According to the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), interested participants must abide with the following guidelines: For folk dance competition, the group must be comprised of four to six pairs of dancers with a minimum of five minutes and maximum of seven minutes performance using any folk dance music from the province and the number should include scenes or scenarios related to the chosen dance piece.
As for the hip-hop dance competition, each dance group must have six to 12 members with a five to seven minutes performance from a broad selection of street dance style using only Original Pilipino Music (OPM), which depicts the culture, customs and traditions of Bulacan.
Folk dance competitors will be graded based on their performance (30%), interpretation of written instruction (20%), staging (20%), appropriate costume (15%) and overall impact (15%) while choreography and style (35%), performance (35%), costume (15%) and overall impact (15%) will be scored for hip-hop dance competitors.
Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes worth P20,000 for the first prize; P15,000 for second prize and P10,000 for third prize. Also, P5,000 consolation cash prize and certificates will be given to two non-winning groups.
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando encourages all the young Bulakenyos to participate and be proud to show their talents.
“Ang atin pong lalawigan ay tanyag sa mayamang sining at isa na nga po dito ang taglay nating husay sa pagsasayaw. Ipakita po natin ito at itanghal dahil hindi lamang ito karangalan ng inyong sarili, karangalan din ito ng ating lalawigan,” the governor said.
The deadline for the submission of entries is on September 1 and the official entry form must be submitted to Angelita Cabrera, project coordinator of Galing Bulakenyo, at PHACTO, Sentro ng Sining at Kultura ng Bulacan, Capitol Compound.
