Fernando leads distribution of farm equipment to Bulakenyo farmers

CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Daniel R. Fernando led the Provincial Government of Bulacan in the provision of farm equipment during the “Distribution of STW and Assorted Vegetable Seeds for Farmers Affected by Water Shortage” held last Friday at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
Thirty-nine Farmers’ Cooperative Associations (FCAs) from 10 municipalities including the City of Malolos, Bulakan, Calumpit, Paombong, Balagtas, Bocaue, Bustos, Guiguinto, Pandi and Plaridel each received one shallow tube well.
Also, 10 cooperatives included in FCAs were given one water pump each by the National Irrigation Administration.
The Provincial Agriculture Office also distributed different vegetables seeds to farmers affected by irrigation water shortage that includes eggplant, tomato, bitter gourd, sponge gourd, finger chili, okra, Chinese cabbage, squash, gourd, string beans and red chili for them to plant and become alternative source of income.
Meanwhile, Fernando called on the agricultural sector to unite and help each other in times of crisis.
“Huwag po nating pabayaan ang mga makinaryang ito. I-share po natin sa ibang grupo at magkaisa po tayo. Kailangan natin ng pagkakaisa at makakaasa naman po kayo na kami sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan, gayundin ang opisyales ng inyong mga munisipyo ay nakasuporta sa inyo,” the governor said.
Coinciding this, the Department of Agriculture through the Provincial Veterinary Office has given the 227 backyard raisers affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) from the town of Guiguinto during the ASF Indemnification Program.
