Fernando intensifies strict collection and proper waste disposal in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando implemented the directives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to intensify strict collection and proper waste disposal while Bulacan is under the state of public health emergency and enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19. In compliance to Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, Fernando instructed all the city and municipal mayors through a memorandum signed on March 19, 2020 to have proper waste management in each barangays and to disseminate the directives to the people. Fernando also emphasized in the memorandum that no waste shall be disposed in the rivers, canals, drainages or any waterway to maintain cleanliness in every community. “Kayo ay inaatasan ring tiyakin na walang anumang uri ng basura ang maitatapon sa mga ilog, kanal, drenahe at anumang uri ng daluyan ng tubig sa bawat barangay na inyong nasasakupan at maiparating sa mga mamamayan na ipinagbabawal na ito upang mapanatili ang kalinisan sa komunidad lalo’t higit sa panahong umiiral ang State of Public Health Emergency at Enhanced Community Quarantine” Fernando said. As of March 31, 2020, Bulacan Provincial Health Office announced a total of 28 COVID-19 cases in the province, 12 deaths, 305 active PUI, 110 were cleared; 1,619 active PUM, 2,008 were cleared.
