CITY OF MALOLOS– Despite the restrictions brought by the COVID pandemic, Governor Daniel R. Fernando graced the commemorative rights in honor of the 171st Birth Anniversary of Gat Marcelo H. Del Pilar at the Dambanang Marcelo H. Del Pilar, San Nicolas, Bulakan, Bulacan yesterday.
Fernando led the flag raising and wreath laying activity together with Bulakan Mayor Vergel Meneses, Vice Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, National Historical Commission of the Philippines Senior Curator Jose Ruel Paguiligan, PLtCol. Dominador Ignacio from the Philippine National Police, Masons representative SW Angelo De Leon, Dr. Priscilla Navarro from the Department of Education, National Press Club representative Carmela Reyes-Estrope, Bulacan Press Club President Omar Padilla, Integrated Bar of the Philippines Marcelo H. Del Pilar Bulacan Chapter President Atty. Joseph Inocencio, and Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office Head Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz.
In his video message, the governor looked back on the heroism of Plaridel and encouraged the Bulakenyos to remember every 30th of August of every year as a historical day of their race.
“Sa ating lupain, isinilang ang isang rebolusyunaryong pluma at papel ang naging sandata na isa sa naging daan tungo sa kalayaan ng ating bayan. Nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang mga aral na kanyang iniwan,” the governor said.
According to Section 24 of the Ordinance No. C-004 or the “New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan or NEPAC”, Marcelo H. Del Pilar is the chosen hero of the province. His monument shall be erected on the center island leading to the Capitol near MacArthur Highway. ###
