Fernando encourages the use of public classrooms as quarantine areas for PUIs and PUMs

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando encouraged city and municipal mayors to put up designated quarantine and isolation areas in their localities for persons under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) through the memorandum DRF-040620-100 signed last April 6, 2020.

In accordance to the policies under the Office Memorandum OM-OSEC-2020-002 dated March 26, 2020 by the Department of Education (DepEd), the governor said that public classrooms can be used as quarantine areas to help minimize and prevent the spread of the disease among the cities and municipalities in the province.

“Malaking bagay na magkaroon ng sari-sariling quarantine areas sa bawat lugar dito sa ating lalawigan. Sa hakbang na ito, inilalayo natin ang ating kapwa sa kapahamakang dulot ng Covid-19; mapapababa natin ang posibilidad na magkahawa-hawa ang mamamayan,” Fernando said.

In line with this, Fernando also mandated the city and municipal mayors to execute guidelines according to Par. H of the Resolution No. 19 Series of 2020 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to avoid discrimination against the medical health workers, frontliners, PUIs and PUMs that may cause danger to the said individuals.

The governor also gave a directive through the memorandum to enforce a resolution or ordinance in every city and municipality that strictly requires every individual to wear surgical face mask when going outside or when in public places in compliance with the resolution of IATF.

As of 4 pm yesterday, Bulacan PHO COVID-19 Surveillance reported 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths.
