DOJ Sec Guevarra to join Bulakenyos in the commemoration of the 120th Anniversary of Malolos Republic

CITY OF MALOLOS – Department of Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra will join thousands of Bulakenyos in the commemoration of the 120th Anniversay of the first Philippine Republic on January 23, 2019. 8 am at the historic Barasoain Church here.
Anchored on the theme, “Unang Republika ng Pilipinas, Saligan sa Pagtataguyod ng Ganap na Pagbabago”, the DOJ Sec will be joined by Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando, National Historical Commission of the Philippines Executive Dir. III Ludovico D. Badoy, congressmen, other local officials, government employees, senior citizens, volunteer workers, veterans, teachers, students and other non-government organizations.
The program will start with a flag raising ceremony followed by the wreath laying activity at the monument of Emilio Aguinaldo, the country’s first president.
Furthermore, Alvarado encourages the Bulakenyos to participate in the said activity since January 23 is declared a special non-working day in the Province of Bulacan through Proclamation No. 651 issued by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea.
“Ang pagbabalik-tanaw sa nakalipas na kabayanihan ng ating mga ninuno na nagbigay daan sa pagkakabilang ng Bulacan sa makulay na kasaysayan ng bansa ay isang gawing hindi dapat katamaran o balewalain bagkus ay dapat palagiang gawin ng may dangal at pagmamahal sa bayan,” Alvarado said.
The historic event that is now called ‘Araw ng Republikang Pilipino, 1899’ is based from Proclamation No. 533 that took effect in 2013.
