CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) has been recognized once again by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as one of the recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award for its commendable governance practices with accountability and transparency.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando accepted the plaque of recognition and the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) worth P7 million as an incentive package from DILG during the awarding ceremony held at the Fontana Convention Center, Clark Field Pampanga yesterday.
Alvarado said that it was a great honor for the province to be recognized as one of the outstanding provincial governments in Central Luzon that continues to exhibit good performance in internal housekeeping particularly on the core assessment areas of financial housekeeping, social protection and disaster preparedness.
“Isang malaking karangalan para sa lalawigan na tanggapin ang pagkilala sa katapatan at kahusayan ng pamahalaang lokal o ang Seal of Good Local Governance ng DILG. Ito ang sumasalamin sa mahusay na pagbibigay serbisyo ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan at hindi tayo magsasawang maglingkod ng buong husay at katapatan,” Alvarado said.
The municipalities of Balagtas, Bustos and Plaridel also received the Seal of Good Local Governance Award in the Municipal Category for passing the requirements in core and essential assessment areas including financial housekeeping, social protection, disaster preparedness, business-friendliness and competitiveness and peace and order.
The three outstanding municipalities also received a plaque of recognition and PCF worth P3 million as incentive package from the DILG.
Meanwhile, DILG Under Sec. Austere Panadero revealed that a total of 1,372 local government units or close to 84 percent of the total number of LGUs in the Philippines have met the minimum requirements of good housekeeping.
“We are fostering trustworthiness and transparency in providing better services to the people. We should always be reminded to keep doing what is best for our people and let’s continue to aim high and go beyond limits,” Panadero said.
The SGLG award is the new improved version of the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award launched by the late and former DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo in 2011 that recognizes outstanding LGUs with good performance in valuing the welfare of the Filipinos.
