CITY OF MALOLOS – Unregistered Bulakenyo voters have only 13 days left before the deadline for voter registration on September 30, 2021.
Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando appeals to all Bulakenyos who have not yet registered to seize the opportunity to do so and exercise their right to choose the future leaders of the province and of the country.
“Sa mga hindi pa nakakapagparehistro, magparehistro na po kayo. Gamitin po natin ang ating karapatang bumoto at pumili ng mga lingkod bayan na makakatulong sa higit na ikatatagumpay ng ating pamahalaan, lipunan at komunidad,” Fernando said.
Based on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), registration in Bulacan, which is under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine, is open from Mondays to Saturdays including holidays from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Office of the Election Officer or in satellite registration sites while areas under Modified General Community Quarantine and General Community Quarantine opens until 7 PM.

According to COMELEC, voter registration is a requirement for any qualified Filipino citizen who wishes to vote in any Philippine election under the Republic Act No. 8189. Under the present system of continuing registration, a qualified person needs to register only once. This registration is permanent, however, in cases when a voter transfers residence, he needs to apply for the transfer of his registration record.
On their website, it is stated that Qualifications to Register any Filipino citizen who is not yet a registered voter may apply for registration, provided he/she possesses the qualifications for May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections including at least eighteen (18) years of age on or before May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections; a resident of the Philippines for at least one year and in the place wherein he/she proposes to vote, for at least six months immediately preceding the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections; and not otherwise disqualified by law.
Moreover, any person who has not reached the required voting age or period of residence on the day of registration but will possess such qualifications on or before the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections, may register as a voter. However, the reception of their applications shall commence only on May 10, 2021 (at least one year prior to election day). ###
