Bulakenyo TODA/JODA members receive insurance, medical and burial assistance

CITY OF MALOLOS –The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted the Health Awareness on Communicable Disease and Accident Insurance Coverage and Awarding of Burial Assistance and Medical/Assistive Devices to the members of Tricycle and Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city, Thursday afternoon.
Before the discussion, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado together with Senator Cynthia Villar, the event’s guest speaker, and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, awarded the assistive/medical devices to 255 recipients, burial assistance to 500 recipients and sacks of rice with emergency bags and P10,000 cash to 20 fire victims from Marilao, Bulacan.
Senator Villar said that the Filipino people has many privileges but they need to be explained properly to let them know how to avail.
“Napakaraming opportunities para sa hanapbuhay, ang kailangan lang, magdagdag tayo ng kaalaman, mag-aral ng bagong skills. Nagcreate kami ngayon sa Villar SIPAG ng Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing Training supported by TESDA, para maka-save sa expenses, para hindi na kayo magpagawa kayo na mismo ang gagawa, meron din kaming training for construction, kung gusto n’yo may mobile school kami,” Villar said.
Alvarado is thankful to the Philippine Red Cross for being a partner in assisting the transport industry wherein they awarded free membership to 11,410 Bulakenyos.
“Tayo pong lahat ay binigyan ng misyon ng Panginoon na maglingkod sa ating pamayanan. Mahalaga pong maging ligtas at malusog tayo lalo na kayong laging nasa lansangan, kaya mahalaga po talagang may insurance. Salamat sa Red Cross para sa lahat ng miyembro na sinawing palad sa gitna ng paglilingkod, kahit paano may matatanggap sila,” Alvarado said.
According to them, the accident insurance policy is intended for anyone between 5 to 85 years old and a member is entitled to accidental death, disablement and dismemberment, hospitalization and burial reimbursements. The amount of benefit depends on the membership fee availed by an individual is renewable annually and they can apply for membership insurance in any PRC Chapter or at www.redcross.org.ph/chapters.
Fernando recognized the importance of the transport sector and said that they are essential in reaching the economic goal of the province.
“Kung wala kayong magandang kalusugan hindi kayo makapaghahanap-buhay, kung wala kayo walang maghahatid sa mga mamamayan sa trabaho, sa paaralan, hindi tayo makakausad,” Fernando said.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the program expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the PGB and PRC.
“Malaki ang maitutulong nito sa hinaharap kung sakaling may mangyayaring aksidente sa amin kaya nagpapasalamat kami,” Armando Salvacion, 52 from the City of Meycauayan said.
“Maraming Salamat po sa inyong tulong Gob. Willy. Malaking bagay po ito sa amin,” Belita dela Cruz, 61 from Pulilan and Rea Bukid, 39 from Bustos, said after receiving the burial assistance and wheelchair.
