CITY OF MALOLOS – Christmas Day is just around the corner and the Provincial Government of Bulacan has started gifting 600 Persons with Disability with bags of groceries during the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disability at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here yesterday.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that at present, there are 22,000 PWDs in Bulacan that are being monitored and reinforced by the province through different programs tailored for them.
“Kinikilala namin ang inyong karapatang mabuhay ng may pantay na pagturing katulad ng pagturing sa mga ordinaryong mamamayan,” Alvarado said, emphasizing other projects from which they can benefit from including assistive devices distribution, scholarship grants to PWDs and their children, conduct of orientation on their rights and privileges and Livelihood Assistance appropriation.
In line with the activity, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted an “Orientation/Forum on Empowering Persons with Disability – Leaving No One Behind” with the theme “Empowering Persons with Disability and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equity” as part of the activities on that day.
Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando recognized the importance of PWDs who serve as an inspiration to many.
The event also served as a venue to showcase the talents of PWDs through various intermission numbers.
