CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulakenyo farmers and fisherfolks received new machineries and tools to help them improve their yields and lessen post-harvest losses during the “Farmers and Fisherfolks Assembly 2019” held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here yesterday.
Said machineries and tools were awarded by the Department of Agriculture Region (DA) 3, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region (BFAR) 3 and the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB).
Under the Farm Mechanization Program of DA 3, 27 machineries and tools for farming and agriculture were given to 27 farmers association including 11 units of seed spreader, four units of four-wheel drive tractor, four rice transplanter, three hand tractor, one combine harvester, one recirculating dryer, one flash dryer, one grain collector and one warehouse.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,633 machineries and tools for farming and fishing were also given by the PGB through the Provincial Agriculture Office to more or less 1,200 farmers and 356 fishermen including 5,100 bags of organic fertilizers, 332 unit of gillnets with accessories, 100 knapsack sprayers, 40 small farm reservoir, 37 pump and engine set or shallow tube well (STW) and 24 marine engines.
BFAR 3 also distributed 320 units of portable solar lamps to 320 fishermen.
In his message, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado shared that Bulacan still belongs in the list of “10 Most Outstanding Provinces in the Field of Rice Production” for the past six years of his administration.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo dahil sa patuloy na pagsusumikap ng ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda kung kaya naman lubos na napapanahon na paigtingin pa natin ang pagpapahalagang itinutuon po natin sa pagsasaka at pangingisda sa pamamagitan ng pagbabahagi ng mga bagong kasangkapan at makinarya,” Alvarado said.
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos also graced the event where she shared a bit of information about her upcoming program dubbed as “Cash for Work” that aims to provide income to farmers and fisherfolks in times of calamity or sickness, along with Board Members Allan Andan and Felix Ople and ALAY-Buhay Representative Michael Fermin.
