Bulakenyo bands, dance groups to compete in Banda Rito, Sayaw Doon

CITY OF MALOLOS – “Banda Rito, Sayaw Doon: Talentadong Bulakenyo” brings two competitions in a single event as singing bands and dance troupes in the province showcase their music and dance flairs at the Tanghalan ng Sining at Kultura, Mini Forest, Capitol Compound in this city on September 8, 2017 at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the province of Bulacan does not only boasts of its rich and colorful history and beautiful eco-tourism sites; it is also proud of its talented people, one of the reasons why this year’s Singkaban Festival is worth experiencing.

“Bakit ba binabalikan ang isang lugar bukod sa magagandang tanawin at mayamang kasaysayan? Binabalikan ang isang lugar dahil sa mga mamamayan nito at sa Bulacan maraming mahuhusay, maraming magagaling kaya naman higit natin itong pinagyayaman at ipinagmamalaki,” Alvarado said.

Dr. Eliseo dela Cruz, head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office, said the activity aims to discover new talents in the field of singing and dancing thus giving life to the Bulacan tourism theme song entitled ‘Bulakenyo, Dangal ng Lahing Pilipino’.

The band competition is open to all Bulakenyo bands ages 15-30 with four to seven members. Each participant will sing one OPM and the Tourism jingle with 6-8 minutes allotted time.

Meanwhile, the dance competition is open to all Bulakenyo dance groups composed of 8-12 members ages 15-25. The performance may be hip-hop, modern, popular, jazz, contemporary, and folk or a combination of dances which they will present in 5-7 minutes. Same with the jingle, the dance concept must depict the character, unity, art, culture and tradition of Bulacan.

Winners in both competitions will win P30,000 plus trophy for the first place, P20,000 and a trophy for the second place and P10,000 plus trophy for the third place. Consolation prize is P5,000.
