Bulacan’s best street dancers all set for a showdown of talents in Singkaban Festival

CITY OF MALOLOS – The best of the best street dancers of the province of Bulacan will flock the streets of this city on September 14, 2018 to showcase their outstanding talent in dancing as well as their colorful apparels and adornments in the “Indakan sa Kalye”, one of the highlights in Singkaban Festival 2018.

According to the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), the event’s organizer, Indakan sa Kalye will feature local festivities, history, arts and culture and values and tradition that depicts Filipino culture.

It is open to all towns and cities in the province, which will be represented by street dancers from their communities, schools, and colleges or universities who will officially embody their local festival or fiesta. Only 12 contingents will be accepted wherein first-come-first-served basis will be implemented.

The street dancing will start at Barasoain Church at 1 pm and will have a showdown at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium at 3 pm.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the annual street dancing competition will not just promote the diverse culture and tradition of Bulacan but will also attract local and foreign tourists to experience the celebration of the annual festival.

“Ang Singkaban Festival, bilang ina ng lahat ng kapistahan sa ating lalawigan, ay pagsasama-samahin sa isang palabas ang makukulay na kapistahan ng bawat bayan at lungsod sa Bulacan habang ipinamamalas din ang mayamang kultura at tradisyon ng mga Pilipino. Ito’y isang aktibidad na hindi lamang nagbibigay saya sa mga Bulakenyo ngunit maging sa mga iba pang mga turista,” ani Alvarado.

Meanwhile, PHACTO Head Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz said the grand winner will take home a trophy and P100,000 while the first and second runners up will each receive a trophy and P70,000 and P40,000 cash prizes respectively.

Also, winners of special awards like Best in Costume and Best in Street Dance will receive P5,000 and a trophy each and three groups will be given P10,000 each plus a trophy as a consolation prize.
