Bulacan to recognize ‘life savers’
CITY OF MALOLOS- The heroic deeds of the ‘life savers’ also known as blood galloners will be recognized as the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Health Office-Public Health awards the Bulakenyos who consistently donated blood to save lives on July 12, 2017, 8 am at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
With the theme “Thank you Hero! Your blood saves someone’s life! Share Life, Give Blood”, the annual recognition will give plaques of recognition to 31 bronze galloners who donated blood for 25 times since 2004 and 166 blood galloners who cumulatively donated blood for nine times.
Also, four ‘blood partners’ or institutions and organizations as well as five local government units will be given certificates of recognition for collecting blood from their respective members and constituents.
According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the award aims to inspire other Bulakenyos to emulate those who freely and voluntarily give part of themselves to help those in need of blood.
“Ang taunang pagbibigay ng karangalan sa mga Bulakenyo na patuloy na nagdo-donate ng kanilang dugo ay pagkilala para sa kanilang kabutihang loob at pagmamalasakit. Sila ay tunay na mga bayani. Kung ang tubig ang siyang buhay, higit lalo ang nananalaytay na dugo sa ating mga ugat na nagbibigay ng buhay sa ating sarili at nagdudugtong ng buhay sa ating mga kababayan na nangangailangan,” Alvarado said.
Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Dr. Gerardo V. Bayugo is expected to grace the event as the keynote speaker and DOH-Regional Office III Regional Director Leonita P. Gorgolon will also be present on the ceremony.
The said celebration is in accordance to Presidential Proclamation No. 1021, s. 1997 or “Declaring the Month of July of Every Year as “Blood Donors Month”.
