CITY OF MALOLOS – Over 1,050 differently-abled athletes and other participants are headed to Bulacan to participate in the 7th Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Philippine Sports Association for Differently Abled (PHILSPADA) National Para Games on May 27-31, 2019.
This is the first time that the province will hold such event that will be led by the Philippine Paralympic Committee formerly known as Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled—National Paralympic Committee of the Philippines, in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
The National Para Games will be composed of 14 sports events including para athletics, para swimming, table tennis, para powerlifting, badminton, chess, goalball, judo, wheelchair basketball, boccia, archery, tenpin bowling, sitting volleyball and demo-cycling, which will be held in different venues namely Bulacan Sports Complex, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, City Walk Sports Center, Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Paradise Bowling Center and Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center .
The opening ceremony will take place at the Bulacan Sports Complex in this city on May 26 followed by other scheduled events including archery, boccia, para-swimming, badminton, table tennis, tenpin bowling and chess on May 27-29; judo on May 27; para-athletics, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and goalball on May 27-30 and para-powerlifting and cycling on May 30.
Expected to grace the event as the guests of honor are PSC Chairman William I. Ramirez and Philippine Paralympic Committee/ PHILSPADA National Paralympic Committee of the Philippines President Michael I. Barredo.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado has already instructed several offices to assign employees at the playing venues and billeting areas who will monitor and assist the delegates to ensure their safety and good health conditions.
He also made sure that all the playing venues were inspected beforehand to avoid further problems or accidents.
The delegates are expected to arrive in Bulacan on May 23 and will stay in Guiguinto National Vocational High School that will serve as their “village.”
