CITY OF MALOLOS – In a bid to continue the fight against malnutrition among students, the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) will once again conduct its “Lugaw at Kwaderno Caravan” for the third time and will kick off at F. Mendoza Memorial Elementary School in Calumpit, Bulacan this coming August 10, 2015.
The annual feeding program and distribution of school supplies will be held at 24 public schools in the province, which aims to improve the nutritional status of malnourished children from grades 4 and 5 and provide them with educational tools that they need such as notebooks.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the program is one of the effective strategies of the PGB to improve the health and education of young Bulakenyos at the same time have the opportunity to personally visit the public schools in the province.
“Layunin ng programang ito na magapi ang malnutrisyon sa mga kabataan at matugunan ang kakulangan sa school supplies. Ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ay patuloy na naniniguro na ang mga kabataang Bulakenyo ay mayroong malusog na pangangatawan at gawing produktibong kasapi ng lipunan,” the governor said.
Alvarado also emphasized the importance of the youth in nation building and considered them as the ‘hope of the future’.
Among the public schools to be visited are Paombong Central School and Hagonoy West Central on August 12, Malolos Central School and Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar Elementary School on August 13, Bustos Central School and Baliwag North Central School on August 14, Pulilan Central School on August 15 and other elementary schools in 21 towns and three cities of the province.
