CITY OF MALOLOS – The first ever Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban will be crowned as the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Council will hold the “Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban Coronation Night” on September 11, 2017, 8 pm at the grounds of Barasoain Church in this city.
Searching for the embodiment of a true Bulakenyo who will serve as ambassador and ambassadress of goodwill to their fellow Bulakenyos, the newly-organized Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban will help the PGB in empowering the youth by fine tuning their talents, instilling positive values and broadening their knowledge about their province’s culture and heritage.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said Bulacan’s young ladies and gentlemen complement the richness of the province’s history, arts, culture and tourism.
“Ang kayamanan ng ating lalawigan na ating itinatangi ay lalong pinatitingkad ng ating mga mamamayan na lubos na ipinagmamalaki ng ating bayan. Ang ating mga kabataan na siyang magiging tagapagmana ng ating lahi ay may pananagutan na ipagpatuloy ang ating simulain na ipreserba ang yaman at ganda ng ating lalawigan,” Alvarado said.
Before the coronation night, candidates showcased various Bulakenyo featured products through a series of fashion shows including the Buntal hats and bags last August 20 at SM City Baliwag and Meycauayan jewelries last August 27 at SM City San Jose del Monte.
Also, the contestants will conquer the runway on September 8 wearing their festival costumes at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium after the Parada ng Karosa, another Singkaban event and model the designs of the Fashion Designers Association of Bulacan on September 9 at SM City Marilao.
According to PHACTO Head Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz, candidates will be judged according to their beauty, which is 40 percent of the overall criteria; intelligence – 20 percent; and the way they carry themselves during the four fashion shows, which is 10 percent each.
The soon-to-be-crowned Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban 2017 will receive P20,000 cash and a trophy while other title holders including Hari at Reyna ng Kasaysayan 2017, Hari at Reyna ng Sining at Kultura 2017 and Hari at Reyna ng Turismo 2017 will each receive P10,000 cash and a trophy. Also, the first and second runners up will be given P5,000 cash and a trophy each.
Special awards including Best in Formal Wear, Best in Long Gown, Mr. and Ms. Photogenic and Bulacan’s Choice Award will also be conferred during the coronation night.
Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban is the official festival pageant for the month-long celebration of Singkaban Festival with this year’s theme “Singkaban Festival 2017: Bulacan, Babalik-balikan.”
