This will best describe the upcoming commemoration of the Provincial Government of Bulacan of the first unfurling of the Philippine Flag on May 29, 2017, 8am at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
Rep. Lorna C. Silverio of the Third District of Bulacan, the guest of honor, is set to lead the event that aims to honor the unceasing quest for independence of the Filipino revolutionaries who fought and won the Battle of Alapan.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado encourages the Bulakenyos to display the Philippine emblem at home, schools, offices and other establishments in celebration of National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12, 2017.
“Nararapat lamang na ating ipagmalaki ang simbolo ng ating kalayaan. Kailangang maipabatid sa ating mga kabataan ang pagmamahal sa bayan ng mga ninuno natin na siyang naging ugat upang sila ay magpunyagi na mapagtagumpayan ang laban sa Alapan,” Alvarado said.
The said observance is in accordance with Proclamation No. 374 or “Declaring the Twenty-Eight Day of May of each year as Flag Day.
The present Philippine Flag was designed by Aguinaldo and sewn by Doña Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo and Delfina Herbosa de Natividad in Hong Kong prior to the proclamation of the Philippine Independence on June 12, 1898.
Meanwhile, coinciding the ceremony, the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) will launch the SINELIKSIK Bulacan Docu Fest 2017: Saliksik at Salaysay ng Kasaysayan ng Bayan Ko!, a research and documentary making contest about the local history of Bulacan’s cities and municipalities.
