CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando is set to celebrate together with thousands of Bulakenyos, the commemoration of the 439th Founding Anniversary of the province on August 15, 2017, 8:00 a.m., at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
The celebration, which is set to be graced by Bulacan First District Representative Jose Antonio R. Sy-Alvarado as the guest of honor, will start with a holy mass to be followed by a wreath laying activity at the monument of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, a flag raising ceremony and oath to the national flag.
Also, Dr. Jaime Veneracion, a writer and historian, will share his knowledge on the foundation of Bulacan.
Alvarado said that Bulakenyos should realize the importance of the institution of the province.
“Ang pagkakatatag ng ating dakilang lalawigan ang siya ring nagging hudyat ng pagsilang ng isang mabunying bayan, sapagkat sa ating lupa ay isinilang ang sangkatlo ng kasaysayan ng ating bansang Pilipinas. Kaya marapat lamang na ating ikarangal at bigyan ng labis na pagpapahalaga ang kahulugan ng dakilang araw na ito,” Alvarado said.
To give the Bulakenyos full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion, Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 268 or “Declaring Tuesday, 15 August 2017, as a Special (Non-Working) Day in the Province of Bulacan” last July 17, 2017.
Meanwhile, coinciding the ceremony, the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) will launch Gawad Singkaban, an awards program aimed to give recognition to the best tourism-related activities, and the announcement of the Top 10 finalists of Sineliksik Bulacan Docufest 2017.
Bulacan Day also marks the opening of the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival with the theme “Singkaban Festival 2017: Bulacan, Babalik-balikan.”
