Bulacan salutes “Juanas”, joins the nation in the observance of Women’s Month

CITY OF MALOLOS – Highlighting the important roles and contributions of “Juanas” in the society especially in this time of pandemic, the province of Bulacan joins the country in the observance of Women’s Month this March.

With the provincial theme “Women Breaking Limitations Amidst Pandemic,” this year’s campaign aims to honor the invaluable efforts, determination and diligence of strong-willed Bulakenyas who thrived and rose amidst the pandemic in order to serve and help others.

Also, it encourages participating agencies and stakeholders to hang the official 2021 NWMC banner in front of their offices and to circulate information materials on their respective online platforms.

Further, to show support on the call for women’s empowerment and gender equality, everyone is requested to wear anything with a shade of purple.

In his message, Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando expressed his admiration and gratitude to women as active doers as the province continuously battles against COVID-19.

The Provincial Women’s Commission will also conduct a webinar on Project No Touch of Soroptimist International for Grade 6 and 7 students of St. Michael School of Marilao on March 12 while the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) will also conduct an online forum series entitled “Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya!” that will be streamed live on PCW’s Facebook page throughout the month.

PCW also encourages netizens to join their online advocacy by using the hashtags #MyWonderJuana, #MySuperJuan and #JuanaSays to feature a minute story of inspiring women and men.

According to Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988, the first week of March each year is declared as Women’s Week and 8th of March as Women’s Rights and International Peace Day while Republic Act 6949 s. 1990 declares March 8 as National Women’s Day. ###
