Bulacan recognizes exceptional artists

CITY OF MALOLOS — The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO)awarded exceptional Bulakenyo artists during the “Konsierto ng Musikerong Bulakenyo at Parangal sa Kislap ng Sining ng Bulacan” held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city yesterday.
Different groups and individuals were conferred the Kislap ng Sining ng Bulacan award including BulSU Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Troupe who participated in the ASEAN Song, Dance and Music Festival in Vietnam; Sining Bulakenyo, Pangkat Mananayaw ng Bulacan who joined Kuala Lumpur International Drum and Dance Festival on Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; CEU Singers Malolos who won in the 10th Oriental Concentrus International Choral Festival in Singapore; DepEd Bulacan Performing Arts Group who won at the 2017 National Competition for Young Artist; Francis Aglabtin who won in Lola’s Playlist segment in Eat Bulaga; Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando who was awarded as the Best Supporting Actor at the 31st PMPC Awards for Television; and Arsenio Lizaso, president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Lizaso, who was also the guest speaker, shared about the contribution of Jose Corazon De Jesus, the author of more than 4,000 poems including ‘Bayan Ko’, which was arranged by Constancio de Guzman, a Bulakenyo from Guiguinto.
“Ang gusto ko po sana, one of these days, ay dalhin po ang Philharmonic Orchestra sa harapan ng Barasoain Church upang masaksihan ng ating mga kababayan dito sa Bulacan. At kayo pong lahat ay aking inaanyayahan na dumalo sa Symphonic Band Festival sa darating na Agosto,” he said referring to the participating bands that day.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado recognized and greeted all the awardees and said that nothing can beat the excellence of Bulakenyos when it comes to arts.
“Ang ating mga talento ay biyaya sa atin ng Poong Maykapal kaya marapat lamang na ito ay ating ibahagi sa ating kapwa. Kaya sa punto pong ito, what words cannot express, let music speak,” Alvarado said.
Meanwhile, the Grand Bulacan Brass Band composed of Banda 98 of Bocaue, Bocaue Brass Band, Bulacan State University Symphonic Band, Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School Symphonic Band, Sacred Heart Academy Brass Band, and Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band serenaded the audience with their music as they played Philippine Medley, Sarong Banggi march, ‘Ikaw lang ang Mamahalin’, and a mash-up of ‘Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika’ and ‘Anak’.
Also, the PHACTO in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and National Historical Commission of the Philippines, launched the Sineliksik Bulacan Docufest 2018 with the theme “Pamanang Lahi, Yamang Aking Ipagmamalaki”.
