Bulacan readies evacuation centers, emergency kits for onslaught of Super TY Karding

CITY OF MALOLOS– The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chaired by Governor Daniel R. Fernando is fully prepared for the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding tonight.

According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Head Rowena J. Tiongson, the PGB has 600 pieces of emergency bags containing blankets, mosquito nets, mats, and pillows readied for possible use of evacuees in different evacuation centers.

Also, 1,000 family food packs (FFP) are on stand-by, and additional 20,000 packs were already ordered for distribution to Bulakenyos who will be affected by the super typhoon.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also allotted 200 boxes of FFP and 150 packs of non-food items (NFI) in the PGB warehouse.

Modular tents were also set up by PSWDO in the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here that will serve as one of the evacuation centers in the province.

Fernando calls on the Bulakenyos to be alert, assess the situation, and call on emergency hotlines once needed.

“Handa po ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan upang saklolohan ang ating mga kababayan lalo na ang mga malapit sa mga anyong tubig na lubos na maaapektuhan ng Bagyong Karding. Nakikiusap po tayo na kung nakikita nila na delikado na ang sitwasyon ay agad silang lumikas at iligtas ang kanilang sarili at mga mahal sa buhay,” the governor said.

He also encouraged his province-mates to pray for the protection of every Bulakenyo and to be spared from the possible destruction caused by the super typhoon.

“Ang atin pong pinakamabisang sandata ay ang panalangin. Tumawag po tayo sa ating Panginoon upang mailigtas tayo sa lahat ng sakuna na ating kakaharapin,” Fernando said.

According to the Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 19 issued by DOST PAGASA at 8:00 pm tonight, the eastern and central portions of the province including San Rafael, Angat, Norzagaray, Dona Remedios Trinidad, San Ildefonso, and San Miguel is under Signal No. 5, while the rest of the province is under Signal No. 4. ###
