Bulacan PDRRMO leads Fire Prevention Month activities as dry season heightens fire risks in Bulacan
CITY OF MALOLOS – As the dry season begins and temperature is expected to rise, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is leading the observance of Fire Prevention Month this March, reaffirming the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s commitment to protecting communities from fire-related incidents and other hazards associated with extreme heat.
The month-long observance is highlighted by the Fire Prevention Month 2026 Motorcade last March 1, 2026, which served as a province-wide information drive to raise public awareness on fire safety, household risk reduction, and preventive measures, especially during the summer season when fire incidents are more likely to occur.
In support of the Fire Prevention Month celebration, the PDRRMO has lined up a series of preparedness activities and capacity-building programs throughout March 2026. Among these is the Basic Aquatic Safety and Rescue Training, scheduled on March 10-13, 2026, to be held at Malolos Resorts Club Royale.
Further strengthening the province’s emergency response capability, the Technical Training on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) will be conducted on March 16-20, 2026 at the PDRRMO Training Room, Capitol Compound. This will be followed by the Communication and Flood Drill on March 24, 2026, to take place at the PDRRMO Operation Center, Capitol Compound.
To enhance the competence of emergency vehicle operators, the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course – Ambulance Operations Training is set on March 25-27, 2026, at the Angat MDRRMO in Angat, Bulacan. Meanwhile, the Conduct of Enhanced Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning – Training of Trainers will be held on March 23-27, 2026, at The Capitol Hostel, Capitol Compound.
According to the PDRRMO, fire incidents tend to increase during the dry season due to extreme heat, overloaded electrical systems, and improper handling of flammable materials. Through these activities, the office aims to strengthen both institutional readiness and community awareness on fire prevention and disaster preparedness.
PDRRMO personnel also distributed Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials to PGB employees and the general public to further intensify fire safety awareness at the community level.
The PDRRMO encouraged the public to actively support Fire Prevention Month by observing fire safety practices, regularly checking electrical connections and appliances, and promptly reporting potential fire hazards in their respective communities.
For fire incidents and other emergencies, Bulakenyos are advised to immediately call 911 emergency hotline.
